Greys Education Centre

Greys Education Centre is located over two sites: Primary (Bromham) and Secondary (Kempston). We are a provision for permanently excluded pupils and hospital education where we work together with various agencies in preparation for returning pupils to mainstream school or to another educational setting.

We focus on personalised targets which will allow smooth transitions to pupils’ next schools. We pride ourselves on fostering nurturing relationships which allow pupils to see and believe their own value and abilities. Through our extended offer of swimming, horse riding, outdoor education and forest school, we re-engage our pupils with a love of learning ready to return to school. We work in close partnership with parents/carers and other local agencies to ensure a wide support network and successful reintegration where pupils go on to achieve their potential. In collaboration with local Primary and Secondary schools we also offer partnership placements and outreach support for teachers and pupils

The Hospital Education Team supports young people who are temporarily unable to attend school full time due to illness, following medical treatment or because of admission to Bedford Hospital. We teach in schools, libraries or in our classroom in Bedford Hospital, working closely with the pupil’s school to ensure consistency with the curriculum delivery.

Hive is a Primary provision for pupils who have an Education and Health Care Plan for Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The Hive is a long-term provision which incorporates a highly structured approach with a high ratio of specialist staff. It is a nurturing classroom based on Thrive principals – including attainment, behaviour, relationship building, self esteem and confidence.
